Women talk business

Part of the large group of participants at the June 13 launch of the Women Entrepreneurs Network at the Marshall Islands Resort.

The official launch event for the Women Entrepreneurs (WE) Network was held at the Marshall Islands Resort last Saturday.

Representatives from the national women’s organization WUTMI, the Ministries of Natural Resources and Commerce and Culture and Internal Affairs, the Office of Commerce, Investment and Tourism, the Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from local businesses joined the event.

The day included opportunity for former members to reaffirm their membership and new members to sign up, followed by networking, opening remarks, break out sessions to determine how the network will be developed and which type of training network is most needed.

The Ministry of Health and Human Services provided a special Covid-19 awareness presentation, which was followed by a discussion of business continuity planning related to Covid-19.

The event was part of a “Reviving Women Entrepreneurs for Strengthened Economic Empowerment in the RMI” project funded by the New Zealand Embassy in Hawaii through the North Pacific Development Fund (NPDF). It is being implemented by the International Organization for Migration in partnership with the Women’s Economic Empowerment Working Group.
