Japan Ambassador to Marshall Islands Hideyuki Mitsuoka presented a $90,800 check to Majuro Water and Sewer Company General Manager Joseph Batol last week following a memorandum of agreement signing ceremony at the Japanese Embassy in Rairok. The grant will fund the “Project for Improvement of Public Water Supply and Sewer System in Majuro Atoll.” Joint Utilities Board Vice Chair Emil deBrum said the grant will assist in expediting time it would take to provide fresh water to all residents on Majuro within a two-year timeframe, including Laura residents. Minister of Works, Infrastructure and Utilities Tony Muller, Marshalls Energy Company General Manager Jack Chong Gum, MWSC Operations Manager Halston deBrum, MWSC Finance Officer Martha Edward and Japan Embassy staff witnessed the ceremony.
