An inauguration was held Tuesday for new CMI President Dr. David Newnham at Staff Sergeant Solomon Sam Basketball Court.

Newnham vowed to put students first, and fulfill the vision and mission of the college.

As part of the college’s tradition when installing a new president, the Board of Regents Chair Kathryn Relang and PSS Commissioner Dr. Natalie Nimmer presented the Jined Kibed, which symbolizes a new captain at the helm.

The post has been vacant for a year since the unexpected death of previous CMI president Dr. Irene Taafaki, with Dr. Elizabeth Switaj holding the Interim President title until Newnham’s arrival this week.

Attending the inauguration were local dignitaries and college faculty, staff, and students.
