We listen to people in government here talking up tourism. How they want to get more tourists coming in to increase the number of jobs and money in the local economy.
Government and donors hire consultants from off-island to make lots of recommendations and talk up a storm about Majuro’s and the RMI’s tourism potential.
But do we, government people and local residents alike, really want more visitors to our capital, especially when we don’t seem to be able to take care of the island for our own residents?
