Team Marshall Islands — athletes, coaches and facilitators from the 2018 Micronesian Games in Yap — received a standing ovation from Nitijela leaders Monday morning following an introduction from long time National Olympic Committee executive board member and Minister of Works, Infrastructure and Utilities Tony Muller.

Speaker Kenneth Kedi said no one ever received a standing ovation from Parliament.

During the event, Health Minister Kalani Kaneko, who headed the RMI sports delegation in Yap, joined Education, Sports and Training Minister Wilbur Heine in presenting the Micronesian Games flag to President Hilda Heine.

“From this day forth, the government will begin its commitment in preparation for the 2022 Micronesian Games,” President Heine said in her congratulatory remarks.

The team was decked out in their official ocean blue uniforms and medals.
