“I’ve never felt like a VIP before,” a partygoer said during the reception dinner onboard the Taiwan flagship Pan-Shi AOE-532d Tuesday at Delap Dock. The statement was made after the teenager was applauded by a squadron of uniformed mariners as he entered the reception area on the flight deck.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kalani Kaneko exchanged toasts with Commander Wangtien Yao-Tsung and Taiwan Ambassador Steve Hsia during the reception. Minister Kalani headed the RMI delegation during the reception on behalf of President Hilda Heine.

The Taiwan Midshipmen Cruising and Training Squadron arrived earlier that morning at Delap Dock as part of a three-day port visit to Majuro to coincide with Constitution Day.

Squadron Commander Rear Admiral Wangtien made courtesy visits with Majuro Atoll Local Government Mayor Ladie Jack and President Hilda prior to the handover of sport equipment during the unveiling of the Taiwan Friendship Wall at Assumption Multipurpose Court.

Special performance by the squadron band and martial arts specialists followed during the Constitutional Day celebrations at Jenrok Sports Center Wednesday evening.

Taiwan Midshipmen Cruising and Training Squadron Rear Admiral Wangtien Yao-Tsung handed over basketballs and diabolos (traditional Taiwan yo-yos) to the Ministry of Education, Sport, and Training on Tuesday at the Assumption Basketball Court.

Minister of Education Joe Bejang, Minister of Culture and Internal Affairs Jess Gasper, Jr. and Taiwan Ambassador Steve Hsia and his spouse Gloria Wu also attended the handover.

Following the handover, Kili-Bikini-Ejit players and the Taiwan Squadron engaged in a full court basketball game. Following a quick game characterized by fast-paced dribbling and hang time, team KBE won 20–14.
