For the first time in 33 years, the Catholic Church of the Marshall Islands ordained new deacons. After five years of study, first under now retired Fr. Ray Sabio, MSC, and then under Prefect Apostolic Fr. Ariel Galido, MSC, Deacons Maise Myazoe, Stephen Lepton, and Ekpap Silk, Jr. were formally ordained in a ceremony at Assumption Church earlier this month. The Most Reverend Ryan Jimenez, D.D., bishop of Chalan Kanoa, Saipan, flew in to oversee the ordination.
